Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, has petitioned the courts for financial support from Michael Jackson's estate. The 81-year old father of the late Michael Jackson contends that he was supported by Michael indirectly through his wife Katherine. The filing states "he does not have a regular or steady source of income, and he was dependent upon the money provided by his son, Michael Jackson, through his wife, Katherine Jackson, for his support" .
Katherine was awarded $26,000 monthly while the children are receiving $60,000 monthly for their care. The amount of Joe's request is undisclosed however, in an itemized list of expenses, he is spending approximately $10,000 monthly including $3,000 in hotel expenses!!!
Last night all of Hollywood came out for the premiere of Michael Jackson's "This Is It". The movie simultaneously premiered in London, New York and Hollywood. The movie opens today and is sold out in many venues worldwide as Michael Jackson fans avidly awaited a glimpse of the last moments of the King of Pop's life. The movie is expected to gross $250 million during its two week stint.
At last, the King of Pop was laid to rest yesterday at Glendale Cemetery. The funeral was attended by a virtual who's who of Hollywood celebrities including Gladys Knight, Elizabeth Taylor, Reverend Al Sharpton, MacCaulayCulkin, Lisa Ray and of course, his children, brothers, sisters and parents.
Michael Jackson's 51st birthday would have been on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Last year, upon reaching his milestone 50th birthday, the King of Pop said in a Good Morning America interview “I feel very wise and sage, but at the same time very young”. Asked how he would spend the day, he said that he would be listening to James Brown music and would “just have a little cake with my children and probably watch some cartoons”. When asked about the happiest times in his life the King of Pop went back two decades and reflected on the album releases of "Off The Wall" in 1979 and "Thriller" in 1982. Jackson said that the songs "meant very much to me and they seemed to be received so beautifully by the public and the world,” he said. “I enjoyed it very much.”
Jackson spoke loving words about his children (Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7, affectionately known as Blanket). He said he wanted them to “enjoy their childhood as much as possible. “I let them go to the arcade and go to the movies and do things. I want them to get to do the kind of things I didn’t get to do. So I fill them with a lot of enjoy that way – a lot of amusement, you know? I get pretty emotional when I see them having a wonderful time, when they are on a ride and they are screaming and they are happy.”
Tomorrow, August 29, 2009, in commemoration of his birthday, fans in Mexico City have decided to gather in huge numbers to dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The goal is to set the record for the most people dancing to the record-breaking hit song at one time. Sadly, on the same day Michael's family will be laying him to rest at Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park in California.
The Los Angeles County coroner has determined that Michael Jackson's death is a homicide. According to the Associated Press, a lethal combination of drugs including propofol (an anesthetic) combined with at least two sedatives led to the King of Pop's untimely death. The finding makes it highly probable that Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician, will be charged with murder. Read the full story here.
