Beyonce is all growed up! She and her father have decided to part ways - professionally. Its still unclear who will be managing Queen B going forward but I'm thinking she may be in the land of Roc Nation. Jay-Z has a proven track record as a successful manager and record label executive and he put a ring on the hottest chick in the game (who's still wearing his chain!). Here is the official statement from Matthew Knowles:
"The decision for Beyonce and Music World Entertainment to part was mutual. We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment.
Queen Beyonce fresh off a stellar showing at this years Grammy Awards has Sony's bikini panties in a wad! Seems that Beyonce's music video for "Video Phone" contains copyrighted imagery in the form of her bikini!! European underwear manufacturer Triumph claims the outfit worn by Beyonce in the video is an outright forgery of their originally created design by Iskren Lozanov and sued Sony to stop distribution . I agree they do look alike- what do you think??
Fans attending a Beyonce concert earlier this week in Brazil had to run for cover when gunshots erupted. According to local sources, the gunfire exchange was between police officers and gang members who had reportedly targeted concert goers waiting for taxis earlier in the evening. The exchange occurred at Salvador's Parque de Exposicoes.According to The Daily Star, "Despite the dangers, no one was believed to have been injured."
This year's 52nd Grammy Awards will air on Sunday, January 31. All of music's finest will be in attendance, presenting and performing. In my opinion, this year's most interesting road to the Grammys has to be Beyoncé. Beyoncé already an accomplished artist, has performed for President Obama, already has a dozen Grammys under her belt, has sold out concert arenas the world over and was just named Billboard's Artist of the Decade. However, despite these accomplishments, the most revered Grammy awards, Album of the Year and Record of the Year, has continually eluded B. Will this year be the year of the B?
In case you missed it, Kanye West appeared on the Jay Leno Show last night. Kanye discussed the Taylor Swift incident and was practically brought to tears. Kanye performed on the show with Jay-Z and Rihanna and took time prior to the performance to discuss his behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards. Kanye admitted that his behavior was "rude" and that he wants to apologize to Taylor Swift in person (uh do ya think!). Leno went on to ask Kanye what would his mother have thought about his behavior. This is when Kanye basically lost it. He sat visibly shaken for a few moments before Leno jumped in with another question to rescue Kanye from the uncomfortable moment .
Here's my take on it. Kanye said he needs to take time off to mourn his mother's death (which he hasn't done thus far). Immediately following his mother's death, Kanye kept performing, travelling, and making music. I have lost both parents (one this past summer) and I can tell you there isn't enough time in the world to mourn a parent's death. So I agree Kanye should take time off and take time for much needed self reflection. The obvious Henny binge drinking is also something he needs to address. That being said, Kanye's behavior is inexcusable. Plain and simple Kanye has some unaddressed issues (but who doesn't?). He is a talented, musical whiz and no one can take that away from him but himself.
Now, before I sign off I have one thing to say, I agree with Kanye's opinion! Beyonce's "Put a Ring On It" was one of the best videos ever however, Kanye didn't have to exercise his First Amendment rights in such a deplorable manner on national television at Taylor Swift's expense. Self control is a beautiful thing and a sign of maturity!
Once again, Kanye steals the show at the MTV Video Music Awards. During Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for the Best Video , Kanye bum rushed the stage like a kamikaze, steals the microphone from Taylor (you know if that was a sista he would have got his butt whooped!!!) and declares on live national T.V., "Yo Taylor I'm really happy for you, I'm a let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!". Then he repeats it, "one of the best videos of all time!". The shell shocked and totally caught off guard Taylor Swift was left standing there like a deer in headlights while Beyonce looked on in sheer astonishment. I totally feel Taylor's pain.
Kanye was reportedly removed from the venue as a result of his action. Kanye, you know your mama raised you better than that!
