Hooray for Hollywood - 81st Annual Academy Awards!

On Sunday night, Hollywood celebrated its most important night - the 81st annual Academy Awards. Black Hollywood was in full effect!!! (No, Sandy not the ministry - sorry, private joke guys). So you know your girl Red Carpet Shelley has her ideas about who was Hollywood and who was Hollyhood!!! Now first of all my first Red Carpet Ready Award goes to Taraji P. Hensen - she was stunning!!!!!!!! Statement jewelry was big this year and Taraji was right on trend. She wore a stunning Fred Leighton necklace which only embellished her totally gorgeous Roberto Cavalli gown and a Mary Norton clutch finished the ensemble. Kudos to you Taraji!

Taraji and Viola Davis were both nominated for best supporting actress however, they lost to Penelope Cruz who gave one of the most sincere acceptance speeches of the night. Penelope is pictured below in vintage Balmain Haute Couture. Not only was her dress stunning, but her hair and accessories were well done. Her fashion sense is impeccable and much better than her English!

I have a few more RCR Awards to give out to my girls who looked very Hollywood but you know I gotta dish some dirt too! Wanna hear it, hear it goes. My very first what in the Hell Hollyhood Award goes to....Beyonce! What in the name of Dereon was Beyonce wearing!!!!!! I know that Beyonce loves her mom but can somebody please give Mama Knowles a healthy, heaping dose of taste. And, Jay Z, wsup with letting your girl go out looking like an advertisement for Autumn in New England?? Wearing House of Dereon is very business savvy but please, please have some good taste....ok, let's keep it moving...

My next RCR Award goes to Queen Latifah - ALWAYS repping for the big girls!!! She is stunning in this navy blue satin Georges Chakra creation with William Goldberg jewels. The Queen was the only Red Carpet arrival in navy blue. Her hair and makeup also flawless. She always gets it right. I love her!!! By the way she sang a beautiful rendition of I'll Be Seeing You. It was a touching memoriam to those no longer with us (I think she also poured some Moet on the red carpet for our gone but not forgotten soldiers!)

My third and final RCR Award goes to Alicia Keys. She was looking her best in Armani Privé, with Fred Leighton jewels and a Zufi Alexander clutch. She's had her fair share of fashion missteps but my girl hit a fashion high note on Oscar night!!

I have some honorable mentions that I would like to get to before I get to my next Hollyhood award. Haille Berry is definitely a Red Carpet Veteran who never ceases to amaze me with her consistency on the Red Carpet. She was no disappointment at this year's Oscars. Haille wore Marchesa, with H.Stern jewels.
My next and final Not So Ready for the Red Carpet (aka Hollyhood Award) goes to Whoopi. Whoopi's dress looks like someone killed a leopard made a couch out of it and Whoopi wore the fabric to the Oscars!! Maybe, just maybe Whoopi wanted to provide us with some comic relief!! If so, boy did it work...

Well boys and girls that's all for now from your girl Red Carpet Shelley and remember to Big It Up, Live it Up!!

PS for all my Sex & The City Fans here's a little SJP in Dior Haute Coutre!
