Following a report by The Smoking Gun accusing Yele Haiti, (Wyclef Jean's foundation) of financial impropriety, Wyclef Jean held a press conference to defend his good name. The Smoking Gun accused Yele Haiti of financial impropriety and specifically of funding Wyclef personally through rental payments for his recording studio and payments for benefit concert appearances amongst other things. Wyclef held a press conference yesterday to waste his precious time better used helping Haiti relief efforts defend his organization. "Have we made mistakes before? Yes," he said. "Did I ever use Yele money for personal benefits? Absolutely not. "Yele's books are open and transparent, and we have been a clean bill of heath by an external auditor every year since we started," he said I applaud Wyclef for addressing the issues raised and addressing them quickly. Wyclef is a man of clean conscious!
Honestly, I'm not surprised that this happened. Almost everyone thoughout history who has ever sought to promote human rights and was of a different nationality, creed, color, or religious persuasion has been persecuted including Jesus Christ, Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., even Mother Theresa! To The Smoking Gun I ask this, how much humanitarian work have you done for Haiti? I personally stand behind Wyclef. I know his heart is in the right place. Admittedly, there were some financial missteps and perhaps he nor his organization is perfect but who is? One thing is absolutely certain: Wyclef's undying passion to bring literacy, awareness, and financial empowerment to Haiti.
Congratulations to Mo'Nique!!!!! Mo'Nique is taking home a well deserved Golden Globe for her role in Precious. The Lee Daniels directed film "Precious: Based On The Novel By Sapphire" was nominated for three Golden Globe awards including Best Picture. Mo'Nique was nominated and won for best supporting actress. Her competition included the stunning Penelope Cruz for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona .Incredibly, when the movie was in production it didn't even have distribution. That was quickly remedied when Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry jumped in to the rescue. The all-star cast also includes Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz and Sherri Shepherd. Big Ups to Mo'Nique!!!
Calling her "a Lindsay Lohan wannabe," a judge has fined "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi $500 and ordered her to perform community service after she pleaded guilty to disturbing others on a New Jersey beach in July.
