Buju Banton

Reggae star Buju Banton's defense attorneys are apparently building an entrapment defense against the US DEA.  Buju was arrested in December for conspiracy to distribute cocaine remains behind bars in Tampa, Florida as his defense team prepares to go to trial in March.  Buju Rasta Got Soul album is nominated for a Grammy.   Continue reading...

Reggae dancehall pop veteran, Shaggy (best known for his hit song It Wasn't Me) pulled together a who's who of Caribbean music and recorded a benefit song for Haiti. The song is entitled Rise Again. Along with Shaggy, Sean Paul, Sean Kingston, Etana, Tessanne Chin, Haitian musician Belo, David Rudder, Edwain Yearwood and soca singers Alison Hinds and Destra Garcia all came together to help the earthquake ravaged island of Haiti.

SOS Help for Haiti TelethonQueen Latifah, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Pharrell are set to host a nationally televised concert and celebrity telethon aimed at several organizations providing immediate relief in Haiti, including Yele Haiti, CARE, Project Medishare and Children's Safe Drinking Water.  Haiti's first son, Wyclef, will perform a special tribute to Haiti.  The two hour telecast concert entitled, "SOS Saving OurSelves - Help for Haiti," will be held at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL on Friday, Feb. 5 and you know your girl Red Carpet Shelley will be in the building!!

"Words cannot express how I felt watching the catastrophic events unfold in Haiti. I believe it is our duty to come together and help our brothers and sisters in Haiti, especially now, in their greatest hour of need. I have joined forces with Queen Latifah, Pharrell, BET and several of the biggest names in music today to raise funds for the Haiti Relief efforts. Together we can make a difference," states Sean "Diddy" Combs, event host.

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards is taking place on Sunday January 31 at 8pm and I cannot wait!!!   As reported on RCS, Beyonce is up ten nominations but some of the other nominees/categories of interest to me include, Best Male Pop Vocal.  In this "Pop" category, R&B crooners  Maxwell and John Legend are pitted against each other along with Jason Mraz, Stevie Wonder and Heidi Klum''s favorite singer, her husband Seal.  Ok, here's another very interesting horse race:  Best Performance by a Duo or
